Brain Power.

7 May

My friend Amanda sent this to me. I think it is sort of alarming that our brain can change perspectives without us being conscious of it!

If your brain works normally this is neat. If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, the dots will remain only one color, pink.

However if you stare at the black “+” in the center, the moving dot turns to green.

Now, concentrate on the black “+” in the center of the picture. After a short period, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see only a single green dot rotating.

It’s amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don’t disappear. This should be proof enough, we don’t always see what we think we see.

I love you, Shure.

So I have had the E4C headphones from Shure for over a couple years now. They had been replaced a few times over the last year because of cord warping or what have you. The same thing happened again several months ago and last week I sent them out to Shure to see what the could do. I was more than prepared to pay the repair fee, because it was about 1/3 the cost of buying a new pair. (and my warranty is expired)

Well, Christmas came early this year, because they sent back a brand new set of SCL4’s, the Pro Audio and updated version of my old E4C’s. The receipt said, and I quote, “No Charge.”

I am a happy girl. 🙂

A Wednesday fantasy…the world’s largest pool.

7 May

“The man-made saltwater lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to the San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile ‘s southern coast, since it opened last month. It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115ft deep end and holds 66 million gallons of water.”

This World Record holder of the largest pool in the world, click here to see more stupendous photos.

From the gal behind the WV’s Camaje, this wifi’d-up cafe w/ basement live music lounge is serving breakfast and small-plate lunch/dinner like kobe beef burgers, smoked mac ‘n cheese, and herbed-chèvre-stuffed Peppadew — a recently discovered, spicy/sweet South African delicacy whose raging success only furthers our crippling dependence on foreign fruit.”
